Wireless... I'm hooked

Okay, so about two weeks ago I bought a new Dell Inspiron 600m notebook; it arrived last week. It's great, and I'm enjoying it. The Centrino's are everything I've read them to be. But what is really awsome is the wireless support. It came with built-in 802.11g support so I went down to Fry's and bought a Linksys WRT54G wireless router and I've gotta say this wireless thing is nice. It's the first chance I've really gotten to play around with wireless 802.11 stuff.

The range I've gotten out of my access point is pretty good, I can go all around my house (its about 2k sq ft) and still get 48-54mbps. I haven't used it too much outside yet but from when I was testing it, I can go pretty far out and still get good signal. I'm really happy with it.

Another neat thing I just discovered was that on Yahoo Maps you can click an option for it to show you all the wireless hotspots around whatever location you entered in. Its one of the radio buttons below the map with an Intel Centrino logo. Around where I work all the Starbucks and the McDonalds seem to have hotspots according to the map. I thought it was kinda cool.

I'll take some pictures of my new notebook later and post them up.
